Tony Moclair

A leading e-scooter company has pulled out of the City of Yarra after the council voted to impose a 400 per cent fee hike on operators.

The proposed increase for operators would move from $1 to $5 per e-scooter each day.

City of Yarra Council Mayor Stephen Jolly joined 3AW Afternoons after the e-scooter company’s departure from the City of Yarra area.

“Last year we pumped $750,000 of ratepayers money into Lime and Neuron’s pockets, we can’t do it anymore,” Jolly said.

“There will be no handouts from Yarra Council on my watch.”
