A late-night burger run has turned into a police pursuit overnight, after a man’s Lexus SUV was stolen while he was inside a fast-food outlet in the city.

“This is a great story … it’s the opportunistic aspect of it that fascinates me,” 3AW Breakfast host Ross Stevenson said.

The Police Air Wing followed the Lexus out to Melbourne’s eastern suburbs before returning to the city, as a dramatic arrest ensued in South Melbourne.
