How the news of Rory McIlroy’s return to Australia was earlier revealed on 3AW Breakfast!

Golfing superstar Rory McIlroy has been locked in to headline the Australian Open for the next two years, in a massive coup for Melbourne.
3AW Breakfast host Ross Stevenson brought up the news on the Rumour File last week, but it was a caller even earlier than that which shed light on the champion golfer’s return to Australia!
“It is exclusive for people who don’t listen to the Rumour File,” Stevenson said.

The Royal Melbourne Golf Club will host this year’s event, while Kingston Heath Golf Club will host the 2026 event.
McIlroy last appeared in an Australian golf event back in 2014, and won the Australian Open in 2013.
CEO of Golf Australia, James Sutherland, made a cheeky comment referring to the Rumour File leaking the news last week!
