Former Superintendent’s pointed advice for new Victoria Police chief

Jacqui Felgate

New Victoria Police Chief Commissioner Mike Bush has been urged to work closely with the community to help solve the state’s crime crisis.

Mr Bush was sworn in on Friday, replacing Shane Patton who resigned from the role in February.

Former Queensland Police Superintendent Jim Keogh said it was vital the new police boss asked Victorians whether they felt safe in their own communities.

“(Mike Bush is) going to have a look at what is and isn’t working,” he told Jacqui Felgate.

“A good way to do that is reach out to the community, ask the community whether they feel safe in the current environment.”
