Police are investigating a late night shooting in Hampton overnight.

Emergency services responded to reports of a man found with injuries consistent with a gunshot wound on Prince Street just before midnight.

“I live two streets away from Prince Street, and I swear to god I heard a bang last night,” Mark Allen said.

The victim, who is yet to be formally identified, was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

His attacker remains on the run.
