The mother of a young child who was disciplined over airport behaviour by a stranger says she’s been shocked by how widely her viral TikTok video has gone.

Emma Darrouzet and her daughter were flying from Brisbane to Port Douglas, when a stranger tapped the young girl on the back and told her to “be quiet” on the plane.

Ms Darrouzet’s video about the interaction went viral, and she told Tony Jones that she was publicising the event purely to let others know it wasn’t OK.

“My daughter was taken aback,” she said on 3AW Mornings.

“I thought it was important for people to understand that approaching another person’s child without the permission of a parent is a little bit intimidating.”
