A dramatic police chase has played out through the streets of Melbourne on Friday afternoon.

3AW Afternoons was first alerted to the chase, which occurred on the Princes Highway at high speed, and ended with an unmarked police vehicle hitting the driver, who jumped out of the car just before being intercepted.

Tony Jones was watching the live feed and described the dramatic scenes as they were playing out.
