Lord mayor Nicholas Reece claims Melbourne’s sister city relationships make the city “more prosperous” amid backlash over an $80,000 taxpayer-funded trip to Asia planned for September.

Mr Reece and three City of Melbourne councillors will fly business class as part of a trip to “priority partner cities” in China, as well as Hong Kong and Japan.
