Shadow minister for defence, Angus Taylor, has urged the government to do more to secure the AUKUS deal with the United States.

Australia has paid the United States another $800 million towards the AUKUS submarine deal, despite uncertainty as to whether it will actually be delivered.

I don’t think the government is serious about this …We are putting the alliance at risk and the AUKUS at risk,” he said on 3AW.

Taylor said the deal is “incredibly important” due to the uncertain time the world is facing.
