Former US ambassador, Arthur Sinodinos, said he believes the review was underway before Trump argued the matter. 

Australia has lifted biosecurity import controls placed on US beef after a review determined the country had improved its safety measures.

“It does take time to review these things … but the president as you saw from that announcement will take the win,” he said on 3AW

Sinodinos explained how American beef could end up on peoples plates, depending on what segment it goes into.
