A Vietnam War veteran has reached out to 3AW Afternoons after he discovered the sale of replica war medals online and in stores.

Greg Carter says while Australia and the United Kingdom both allow the sale of replica war medals, it allows those who never served to wear them indiscriminately.

“Someone can visit a museum or a military shop … the kids or whoever can just say ‘look, I want to buy one of those as a memento of my visit to this museum’, and they can just pin it on their chest and walk out the door with no implications whatsoever,” he said.
