‘Ridiculous’: Tom Elliott shares his stance on the proposal to increase taxes
Tom Elliott has disagreed with economists who are calling for the government to raise taxes, saying the problem in Canberra has nothing to do with taxes.
He claims the government has a spending problem and needs to consider what it can cut back on.
“I encountered this today, and it made me angry. There was a proposal up in Canberra to say to public servants, senior bureaucrats, if you are flying on a trip that’s less than three hours, you should go economy class … they pushed back and the government has backed down,” he said.

The Mornings has questioned why public servants “must” fly business class when the taxpayer is the one paying for it.
“They’re spending our money! What difference will it possibly make to have a slightly bigger seat, slightly nicer drink and slightly better meal, even if indeed you get a meal on such a short flight,” he said.
