Entertainment reporter Pete Ford claims US President Donald Trump wanted to host the Kennedy Centre Honours, despite saying otherwise.

Trump announced on Wednesday he’ll host the honours, sharing his reluctance.

“Almost every host of a TV show I know has said to me I don’t really want to be hosting this. But I swear they would sell their grandmothers into the white slave trade to be hosting a TV show,” Ford said on 3AW Breakfast.

The honours are given to those in the performing arts for their lifetime of contributions to American culture.
