Minister outlines plan to make childcare safety in Victoria the ‘envy of the country’
The Victorian government has announced a child safety overhaul, following a review of the regulation of the state’s childcare sector.
The report found the safety of Victorian children has been compromised because of systemic failings, underfunding and outdated practices. The Allan government has been given 22 recommendations, which the Premier promised to act on.

Minister for Children Lizzie Blandthorn insisted the government has done what it could within the rapidly evolving sector.
“There’s always more to do and there will always be more to do,” she said on 3AW Drive.
Blandthorn highlighted the review as an opportunity to overhaul the system in a “holistic way”.
