A car and truck collided on Cooper Street in Epping at around 9:30pm last night.

Police found two people inside the car, a 23-year-old man who had gunshot wounds, and an 18-year-old woman with life-threatening injuries, which police say were caused by the crash, with both taken to hospital.

The truck driver was not injured and is not believed to be involved in the shooting.

A burnt-out car was also discovered nearby.

Cooper Street has now been re-opened in both directions between the Hume Freeway and Chadderton Boulevard.
