Father of knife crime victim implores Allan government to introduce ‘awesome’ law
Brett Beasley, the father of Jack Beasley, who was fatally stabbed in Surfers Paradise in 2019, has implored the Allan government to introduce ‘Jack’s Law’ in order to reduce knife crime in Victoria.
‘Jack’s Law’ gives police the powers to ‘wand’ for weapons anywhere where knife crime may be a risk, and has been introduced everywhere in Australia except for Victoria and South Australia.
“The community love it, the community want it, I just need to convince your Premier to take on the powers of ‘Jack’s Law’,” Mr Beasley told Ross and Russ.

Mr Beasley’s message comes after a 12 and 15-year-old were stabbed to death in Cobblebank on Saturday night.
“At the end of the day, we want our kids to come home safe, and not feel threatened about walking around the streets of Victoria,” he said on 3AW Breakfast.
Sly of the Underworld then joined the discussion, stating the introduction of ‘Jack’s Law’ is a “no-brainer”.
“It is bewildering,” Sly told Ross and Russ.

State opposition leader Brad Battin stopped short of guaranteeing he’ll implement ‘Jack’s Law’ if elected at the next state election.
“I can’t make that commitment today,” Battin told Ross and Russ.
