The state government’s high-rise apartment plan has been labelled as “one big scam” by one MP following revelations made at a community forum.

The government is planning to build hundreds of high-rise apartments near public transport and activity hubs, with a meeting held in Bayside this week where another bureaucrat raised concerns about the affordability of the dwellings.

Press PLAY to hear the latest on the developing story

“The whole premise of this (plan) is flawed,” Jacqui Felgate said on 3AW Drive.

“Do you honestly think any developer is going to want and come build these things, because the median house price in Brighton right now is $3m is an example.”

Brighton MP James Newbury said Jacinta Allan’s apartment plan had been exposed following the latest development.

“I think we’ve now just seen this is one big scam,” he said.
