Erin Patterson has enlisted a top human rights lawyer as she attempts to overturn multiple murder convictions.

The Mushroom cook killer has hired Julian McMahon SC as she prepares to head back to court and launch an appeal of her triple murder conviction.

Lawyer Ruth Parker explained why Patterson is back in court on Thursday, and what avenues she has to appeal the sentence.

“It is always very difficult to challenge a jury’s decision,” she said on 3AW Breakfast.

“It’s not surprising that she’s brought someone in with so much experience.”
