To celebrate the opening of the city’s new $15.5 billion dollar Metro Tunnel, Premier Jacinta Allan has urged toll operators Transurban and ConnectEast to provide free weekend travel this summer. 

However, former MP and founder of the Transport Matters Party Rod Barton joined Tony Moclair on 3AW Afternoons to voice his disapproval towards the proposal. 

“Why would Transurban want to give away free tolls to celebrate a multibillion dollar project that’s going to take cars away from their roads?” Mr Barton said.
