‘Laughable’: Tom Elliott weighs in on Kevin Rudd’s role following awkward Trump exchange
Tom Elliott has weighed in on Kevin Rudd’s role as Australian ambassador to the United States, following Rudd’s awkward exchange with US President Donald Trump at the White House.
The meeting saw Trump and Prime Minister Anthony Albanese sign an $8.5 billion critical minerals deal, but the President’s exchange with Rudd caught the attention of the 3AW Mornings host.
“We’ve got to get a new ambassador to the US fairly soon,” Elliott said.

“The idea that he can continue to represent Australia in America is laughable.”
Federal opposition leader Sussan Ley then stated she doesn’t think Rudd can remain in the role.
“This is not really about Kevin, it’s about the Prime Minister,” Ms Ley told Tom Elliott.
