An 11-year-old girl has died after a crash in Wantirna South on Thursday night.

The girl had been in a critical condition, fighting for life in hospital, but died on Friday night.

A four-year-old boy was also taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Police are investigating whether the children were wearing seatbelts at the time of the collision.
