A former chief magistrate has told Ross and Russ Jacinta Allan’s claim about having the toughest bail laws in the country “means nothing”.

The comments by Nick Papas KC come as legal experts and victims of crime say Victoria’s bail laws are failing.

“These are bail laws, they’re tough, and they’re not working,” he said.
