Ambulance Victoria CEO Jordan Emery has been asked why all code orange alerts aren’t made public anymore, following a chaotic weekend across the state.

The alert was declared on Saturday night, due to an overwhelming demand for ambulances, and Jacqui Felgate received a tip-off about another alert being issued last night.

Ambulance Victoria released information regarding the code orange alert on Saturday, but NOT Sunday.

Paramedic Sam then questioned the reasoning from the Ambulance Victoria boss about the second code orange alert last night.

“I have no doubt tonight will probably be code orange again,” he told Jacqui Felgate.

Ambulance Victoria has since released the following statement:

Ambulance Victoria has never been required to provide community notifications of Code Orange. Code Red definitely – but not Code Orange.

This is outlined in the Victorian Emergency Management Sub-Plan and also verified by our historical data.
