The two ‘interesting’ examples of councils with ‘very different points of view’
Tom Elliott has highlighted two examples of councils with “very different points of view” this morning.
Merri-bek Council in Melbourne inner-north, and Federation Council in the Murray region of New South Wales, have been put in the spotlight.

Councillor at Merri-Bek Council, Oscar Yildiz, then joined 3AW Mornings to discuss whether it’s the right move to spend taxpayer money to paint two roads in LGTBQI+ flag colours.
“I support the concept, I just don’t support the cost,” Mr Yildiz told Tom Elliott.

“All forms of government have a responsibility to use public money wisely, especially when families are doing it tough.”
Mayor of Federation Council, Cheryl Cook, then explained how the move to stop flying the Indigenous and Torres Strait Islander flags has gone down in the community.
“One would think it’s World War III but it’s not,” Ms Cook said on 3AW Mornings.
