Victoria Police are increasing patrols at shopping centres over the festive period to make sure shoppers feel safe.

Northland, Highpoint, Eastland and Fountain Gate have been targeted as part of the 90-day crackdown following a spate of stabbings and rising retail crime.

But retired detective Charlie Bezzina has highlighted one “big issue” he has with the plan on 3AW Breakfast.
