A leading American tennis reporter has unpacked the issues that Craig Tiley will have to overcome to succeed in his widely-tipped next role.

The current Australian Open boss is expected leave the job at the conclusion of this year’s tournament to take up a role heading up the United States Tennis Association.

Speaking with Shane McInnes at Melbourne Park, Sports Illustrated and Tennis Channel contributor Jon Wertheim said he worried about Craig Tiley being caught up in American tennis politics.

“The issue is the structure (of American tennis),” he told 3AW.

“You (look at Tennis Australia), there’s much less burecrary and the governance model is different.”
