Approximately 100 people were evacuated from an apartment building following a suspicious fire at a neighbouring business in Essendon North overnight.

A Victoria Police spokesperson told 3AW Breakfast, “While it’s early days in the investigation, we do believe this one to be a targeted attack.”

Police are investigating whether the fire is linked to an incident last year where a ute was driven through the storefront.
