One Nation MP Barnaby Joyce has called for more public coal-fired power plants in order to ease the costs of domestic manufacturing and in turn, cost-of-living pressures.

The One Nation MP told Tom Elliott, “Once upon a time, we used to have lots of coal-fired power stations, and once upon a time, Australia had some of the cheapest power in the world.”
“Then we had this great idea that we’re going to go to intermittent power.”
“It’s not renewable, nothing renewable about it,” he added.
