Mayor of the City of Port Phillip, Alex Makin, has clapped back at Premier Jacinta Allan, after she stated inner-city mayors should “get on with the job and not engage in talkfests and flying kites”.

It comes amid a radical proposal to merge inner-city councils into one ‘mega-council’ to cope with fierce financial struggles.

“This is not a story about amalgamation, it’s a story around governance,” Mr Makin told Shane McInnes on 3AW Drive.
