A former Australian Federal Police Detective Sergeant has weighed in on what has led to the reignition of the tobacco war.
Rohan Pike, who also created and led the Border Force’s tobacco strike team, has told Ross and Russel the profitability of the black market means a variety of criminal syndicates want in.

“It’s a huge profit and low risk, especially in Victoria … we’ve got 14 inspectors who are armed with nothing but a clipboard to go out and try to shut down 1600 shops. They’re just fighting a losing battle,” he said.
