Tom Elliott has weighed in on a recent announcement relating to fuel security made by Energy Minister Chris Bowen.

Press PLAY to hear why Tom Elliott suggested the Energy Minister is ‘throwing standards to the wind’

“The only reason we’re doing this, that we’re throwing our fuel standards to the wind, is because there is a crisis, and we’ve got to grab whatever fuel we can, when we can, while we can,” said the 3AW Mornings host.

Paul Maric, co-founder of CarExpert.com.au, told Tom Elliott, “[Dirty petrol] was actually on sale in Australia up until the end of last year.”

“To put it into context, we were somewhere around 85th in the world in terms of how poor the fuel quality was in 91 unleaded.”

“So we’re equivalent with some third-world countries,” he added.
