Following the arrest of Ben Roberts-Smith at Sydney airport last Tuesday, a flood of anger has erupted from the public, with some saying it marks a betrayal of those who served.

Speaking to 3AW Mornings host Tom Elliott, former Victorian Premier Jeff Kennett argued that the general public and decision-makers fail to comprehend the reality of combat.

“I don’t think politicians understand the extraordinary circumstances that soldiers face in a war zone,” Kennett stated.
