Victoria is facing a significant challenge as the number of full-time police officers continues to dwindle, raising serious concerns about public safety and rising crime rates.

Secretary of the Police Association Victoria, Wayne Gatt, argued that the high number of vacant positions in the industry are a direct catalyst for worsening crime statistics, stating that the community is ultimately “paying for it” through decreased safety.
