The City of Melbourne is positioning itself as a leader in the renewable energy transition, moving away from a reliance on Middle Eastern oil and gas toward a more self-sufficient, electrified future.

Speaking on 3AW Mornings with Tom Elliott, Lord Mayor Nicholas Reece highlighted that this shift is driven by a desire for financial resilience and protection against global price fluctuations rather than just environmental concerns.
