‘Interesting twist in that ongoing saga’: ISIS Brides touching down on Aussie soil
The controversial return of four so called ‘ISIS Brides’ and their nine children, has been marked for today, as they head for Sydney.
The women who left Australia a decade ago to join the terrorist organisation and spent years in a Syrian refugee camp are expected land this evening at Sydney Airport, but most will be disembarking in Melbourne.
Speaking with Ross and Russ, Today Show Reporter Jack Hahn live from Sydney Airport said that the women are most likely to be charged with terrorism offences.
Press PLAY to hear how their arrival will unfold
“The are majority coming to Melbourne, so certainly not what your listeners probably want to wake up to this morning, but they are on their way,” Hahn said.
The federal government maintained that there was no legal grounds to block their arrival, with the Syrian officials claiming that the Australian government was a deciding factor in the groups return.
