‘Good for energy security for Victoria’: The state government’s backflip on gas
A new gas drilling project that has the ability to resolve Victoria’s growing energy crisis has been approved by the state government.
This latest announcement coming in a time of fuel uncertainty, has been introduced to assist in avoiding potential fuel insecurity in the future.
Speaking with Ross and Russ, Energy and Climate Change Program Director at Grattan Institute Alison Reeve said that whilst this is a good move to keep up with demand, there is only so much gas in Victoria.

“A little bit of extra gas available at those times is definitely something that’s good for energy security for Victoria,” Ms Reeve said.
Victoria has previously attempted to move away from gas usage, pushing for more renewable energy.
