‘A pretty unique and Victorian response to an issue’: Petrol pricing regulation nearly useless
Petrol stations are under the spotlight once again for immensely fluctuating prices, rendering the governments regulations as useless.
As revealed on 3AW Breakfasts Rumour File, there been a consistent pattern of significant fuel price fluctuations at petrol stations, observed each morning at approximately 5:30 am, at petrol stations operated by United.
Speaking with Ross and Russ, CEO of Australasian Convenience and Petroleum Marketers Association, Rowan Lee, said that the process of stations setting having their highest prices at the beginning of the day is continuing to frustrate customers.
Press PLAY to hear how often prices are changing
“What they wanted to do was stop fluctuations going up and down. But what they’ve done is create this sort of false, false set of pricing” Lee said.
In Victoria, petrol retailers are required to set their highest price by 2pm the previous day.
