Urgent care clinics ‘rapid expansion’ helping to ease emergency room pressures
The pressure on Victorian emergency rooms is being aided by the increasing popularity of super clinics, with more individuals making use of the alternative setting.
Introduced by the federal government over the last 3 years, the centres are dedicated to offering immediate treatment of less severe injuries, including fivers cuts and burns.
Appearing on 3AW Afternoons, Senior Melbourne Emergency Physician, Stephen Parnis, said that whilst the clinics have been beneficial, they have not yet reached their full potential.

“It’s important to understand that they serve a place, but that they don’t cover every aspect of medical care,” Parnis said.
There are over 30 urgent care locations across Victoria that operate seven days a week.
