Researchers urge ‘buyer beware’ over illicit alcohol at local bottle shops
An investigation has been conducted to test the chemicals in bottle shops across three Australian states – Victoria, NSW, and Queensland.
The study revealed that some bottles being sold contain dangerous chemicals, with 30 per cent of the bottle shops having illicit alcohol on the shelves.
Speaking to 3AW Breakfast with Ross & Russ, Researcher at the National Drug and Alcohol Centre Dr. Michala Kowalski said this is particularly concerning for younger people, who are drawn to cheaper booze.
