Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has copped backlash for comments he made about Kylie Minogue on a podcast with comedian Nikki Osbourne.

Professor of media at the University of Sydney and former gender adviser to the NRL, Catherine Lumby, offered an interesting perspective on the situation.

“Probably at best it was a kind of dad joke,” Ms Lumby told Laura Spurway on 3AW Afternoons.

“I’m a feminist but I don’t think that was sexist.”
