UPDATE: Telstra issued a statement just before 10:00am on Wednesday morning saying 90 per cent of calls and data have been restored.

A large Telstra outage is causing issues for mobile phone customers and disrupting businesses and people across the country.

Tech expert Stephen Fenech told 3AW Breakfast hosts Jimmy Bartel and Mark Allen Telstra was yet to release an official statement on the issue.

“They [Telstra] are probably still trying to work out what’s wrong, and then also trying to work out a timeline,” he said.
