Former 3AW host Derryn Hinch dies aged 82
Australian broadcasting legend Derryn Hinch has died, aged 82.
He had been navigating ongoing health battles in recent years.
Entertainment reporter Peter Ford said he passed away in his bed at home.

Long time friend and former panel operator for Derryn Hinch, Darren James, said he will remember him as a dear friend.
“[He was] just a lot of fun, work hard, play hard, great sense of humour, he was very good at wordle as we did every day and well, a dear friend,” the weekend breakfast host said.

Former 3AW Court Reporter Phil Johnson said he has thousands of stories just from the decade he knew Hinch.
“He was just a terrific fellow, big hearted, well intentioned, although sometimes misplaced, and we will never see another one like him.”

Mr Hinch first made his mark in newspapers before moving into radio, where he dominated airwaves on 3AW in the 1980’s before moving into television.
At one stage, he entered politics, winning a seat in the Senate.
The so-called ‘Human Headline ‘ was a trailblazer – always leaving his mark.
