A man has questioned why he was charged a dollar for a non-existent child’s drink at a cafe in Middle Park.

Caller Graeme told 3AW Mornings host Tom Elliott his son did not order a drink, and one was not brought out, but it turned up on the bill.

The cafe shared a statement in response:

“Our kids menu includes a drink for $14, and to ensure any kids menu item selected receives the promotion and is sold at $14, we have a ‘no drink’ option to ensure the correct price applies,” the statement read.

“The $1 charge as you can see on the image attached is not actually a charge, but ensures the kids menu item is discounted down. We do not charge guests for items they do not purchase.”
