Local council rate capping has been in effect for 10 years, but a recent report suggests the Allan government may overhaul this policy.

City of Greater Geelong Mayor Stretch Kontelj told 3AW Mornings host Tom Elliott he is concerned this change would be costly for landowners.

“Some councils, and probably most, will do the easy thing and simply increase rates each year,” he said.
