The rural community of Fawcett, near Alexandra and Lake Eildon, has been left in an unfortunate situation after floodwaters left the community ripped in half.

After the devastating Longwood bushfires earlier this year, the community has been pleading with the state government to have a key bridge in their town repaired.

“We’re in this perpetual holding pattern, and now they’re starting to play with community safety,” Sam Hicks, President of the Fawcett Hall and Mechanics’ Institute, told Jacqui Felgate.

“It reeks to me of the state government trying to rein in costs,” Cindy McLeish, Liberal MP for Eildon, added on 3AW Drive.
