Federal Liberal Party leader Angus Taylor has hit out at the Labor Party’s spending as Australia’s national debt ticked over $1 trillion on Thursday.

Taylor told 3AW Mornings host Tom Elliott the current government is spending too much money in “areas we shouldn’t be spending”.

“If you’re carrying debt because you’re investing in productive infrastructure that’s going to give you a payback over time, fine. But that’s not what’s been happening,” he said.
