A Melbourne mum got more than she bargained for when she found a 4cm spider in her pre-packaged supermarket salad.

Brooke Wiramanaden from Narre Warren bought a packet of salad leaves at a Woolworths store in Hampton Park.

She told Neil Mitchell she didn’t make the disturbing discovery until she was at work, about to eat her lunch.

“I felt quite ill,” Brooke said.

“It was dead, it had suffocated in the bag.”

Brooke said the spider “was about 4cm if not 5cm long” and it looked like it might have been a White Tail.

She is waiting on a response from Woolworths.
