A kangaroo has been rescued from Sugarloaf Reservoir.

The runaway roo found itself trapped in the reservoir near Yarra Glen on Tuesday.

Rescuers from volunteer agency Warriors 4 Wildlife managed to save the roo before any harm was done.

Co-director Karla Penn told Tom Elliott it went for a 300m swim.
