Police car damaged in dramatic ram raid in Melbourne’s north east
Two offenders remain on the run after a ram raid in Melbourne’s north east.
They also collided with a police vehicle shortly after.
The ram raid happened at a service station on Wellington Street in Montmorency around 5:30am on Friday.
A gold-coloured Nissan was used to break through the doors. The offenders, wearing high-visibility vests, stole cigarettes before fleeing.
That Nissan sedan then drove down the wrong side of Bolton Street in Eltham, colliding head on with a police vehicle.
The police car spun around and became wedged on rocks. It sustained extensive damage, however the two officers on board were uninjured.
The offenders remain on the run. Their car has no number plates.
