COUNCIL WATCH

Mornington Peninsula Shire is under fire for the state of its roads.

Tom Elliott said Beach Road near Shoreham is littered with deep potholes.

But Mayor of the Shire Bryan Payne told Tom that part of the road is not the council’s responsibility.

“The unsealed road and the car park is the responsibility of the Shoreham Foreshore Committee of Management,” Cr Payne said.

Tom said that explanation doesn’t pass the “pub test”.

“Surely, if you’ve got one road that leads down to the beach, you just put one entity in charge of it,” he said.
